Founded in 1973, AGF has a registered capital of 3.8 billion yen (200 million yuan), which is wholly owned by Azhisu Group. As of April 2021, the global sales of AGF brand has reached 85.5 billion yen, and the total number of employees in Japan is 1357. General Foods Co., Ltd., established in 1954, is the predecessor of AGF, and introduced the first instant coffee in 1960, becoming the pioneer of Japanese coffee culture. In 1973, the company introduced several types of freeze-dried coffee and began to enter the field of household consumption.
